Alaina Roberts Awarded Kalon Leadership Scholarship

2013 Jul 29

Alaina Roberts will receive the Kalon Leadership Scholarship at Bethany College, an annual $2,500 award based on leadership, character, service and academic performance.

The Kalon Leadership Scholarship, which is for incoming freshmen, is competitive, and candidates are chosen by College faculty and staff through an application process that includes an interview and an essay discussing leadership achievements.

Alaina Roberts, daughter of Michelle and Mike Roberts and a Beaver Local High School graduate, plans to study Physical Education and Sports Studies, held leadership roles in both Buckeye Girl’s State and also her school’s volleyball team. Alaina served as her team’s captain, and she helped with the organization’s youth camp and fundraisers. She also held a city council position on Buckeye Girl’s State, through which she made key decisions for those involved.

Kalon Scholarship maintenance is dependent upon student involvement in the College community, a good citizenship record and satisfactory academic progress.
