Ashley Worst Awarded Kalon Leadership Scholarship

2013 Jul 29

Ashley Worst will receive the Kalon Leadership Scholarship at Bethany College, an annual $2,500 award based on leadership, character, service and academic performance.

The Kalon Leadership Scholarship, which is for incoming freshmen, is competitive, and candidates are chosen by College faculty and staff through an application process that includes an interview and an essay discussing leadership achievements.

Ashley Worst, a future Equine Studies major, is the daughter of Jeffrey and Susan Worst. Ashley served as the secretary of Apollo-Ridge High School’s student council for two years, through which she increased member involvement in outside activities. She was also the president of Book Worms, a club that works with the high school’s library. Ashley led the club in decisions, such as which books to purchase and who would assist in keeping the library in order. Ashley was also involved in athletics: She increased the members of the distance track and field program, due to her contributions and drive as captain.

Kalon Scholarship maintenance is dependent upon student involvement in the College community, a good citizenship record and satisfactory academic progress.
