James Manthey Recognized During Annual Honors Day Awards at Bethany College

Bethany College awarded many of its exemplary students, faculty and staff with a variety of college-wide and departmental awards on April 12 during its annual Honors Day celebrations. The recipients, selected based on their demonstration of outstanding scholarship and other contributions to the College, were presented with their awards during the Honors Day Convocation held in Commencement Hall in Bethany's historic Old Main.

James R. Manthey, a Communications & Media Arts major, received the E. E. Roberts Prize and the Eugene Miller Award. Manthey, son of Donald and Tharese Manthey, resides in Sterling, Va.

The E. E. Roberts Distinguished Prize in Campus Journalism is presented to an outstanding student who excels in work with one of the student media, in academic work in the Department of Communication, or both.

The Eugene Miller Award is presented to a student(s) who has made a significant contribution to communication and to economics and business. This award honors Eugene Miller, Class of 1947, long-time member of Bethany's Board of Trustees, for his lifetime accomplishments in the areas of economics and journalism.

Bethany College is a small college of national distinction located on a picturesque and historic 1,300-acre campus in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. Founded in 1840, Bethany is the state's oldest private college.
