Meghan Philp Recognized During Annual Honors Day Awards at Bethany College

Bethany College awarded many of its exemplary students, faculty and staff with a variety of college-wide and departmental awards on April 12 during its annual Honors Day celebrations. The recipients, selected based on their demonstration of outstanding scholarship and other contributions to the College, were presented with their awards during the Honors Day Convocation held in Commencement Hall in Bethany's historic Old Main.

Meghan L. Philp, a Spanish and Cultural Studies major, received the Bethany 2000 Prize. Philp, daughter of Claudia and Wesley Philp, resides in New Martinsville, W.Va.

The Bethany 2000 Prize recognizes the senior who has best demonstrated loyalty and commitment to Bethany College in a wide range of activities over the course of his or her studies. The recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate the characteristics of enthusiasm, dependability and dedication.

Philp also received the Margaret R. Woods Prize as the the outstanding Spanish major and the Pearl Mahaffey Prize as the outstanding senior majoring in Languages.

Bethany College is a small college of national distinction located on a picturesque and historic 1,300-acre campus in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. Founded in 1840, Bethany is the state's oldest private college.
